Mark Sumpter holds a handsome lead in the points as the 2011 Porsche Club Championship heads to Oulton Park, Cheshire, but it is rivals who have been doing the winning in recent races and they will be determined to peg back his score once more this coming Saturday, August 13th. None of his major challengers have been able to score more than one win, a record they will all be determined to put right at Oulton Park.

Sumpter took his Paragon Porsche 911 to victory in the opening four rounds and was never off the podium in the following events, the 968 of Pete Morris that breaking his run of wins at Donington in May, and the always competitive Morris will be eager to take another win at Oulton. Mark McAleer took his first win in his new for 2011 968 CS at Rockingham last month, and in the dry it should be the 968s that provide the closest opposition to Sumpter – his 911 the lightest car in Class One and working well on a damp track.

Other race winners have been Miles Maserati and Richard Lambert at Thruxton, while rookie John McCullagh won the opening wet race at Rcokingham ahead of Sumpter – all of whom could be challenging hard at Oulton. Second in the points by sheer pace and consistency is Ben Demetriou, who showed his race craft with two drives through the field at Rockingham.

Reigning champion Chris Dyer heads the Class Two points. Quick and consistent in his Strasse run 944 S2, Dyer usually works his way up the overall order as the races progress and is just 12-points behind Sumpter in the overall title chase.

Qualifying for the Porsche Club Championship runners is 09.55 on Saturday morning, with the two 25-minte races scheduled for 14.05 and 17.50.
