Porsche Club Track Days – 2012.
A listing of Porsche Club Track Days is shown on the front page - a booking form can be downloaded by clicking here:
The Porsche Club’s Track Day programme gets underway in April at Castle Combe, followed by another day at Combe almost one month later.
Our next event will be the Novice Evening at Brands Hatch planned for Thursday 13th June. This event has proved to be very popular since our first running of it in 2009. It allows those who are novices to track day driving, to go on track with only other drivers of similar experience. The evening is geared to the novice driver, with a number of instructors available to offer guidance and assistance. This year we will only run one Brands Hatch evening, for the less experienced Track Day drivers, but if more experienced Club members want to join this day, we can reflect that in the sessions we organise.
After the success of our day at Cadwell Park, near Louth in North Lincolnshire, we will be running a similar day in 2011. Once again it will be in the circuit's 'Off-peak' period and thus the rates charged to the Club and passed on to the drivers, are reduced. It is often referred to as the British equivelant to the fabulous Nurburgring circuit. Being twisty with fast and slow corners and an impressive rise and fall, it has something for everybody – especially thrills.
Our Oulton Park, day will once again take place in the period that is the circuit’s ‘Winter rates’ allowing us to offer that day at reduced price. This event was so popular in 2009, 2010 and 2011 we ended up turning people away – so please get your bookings in early this year, to avoid disappointment. This day and Cadwell Park will be run ‘Open Pitlane’. So, aside from the first hour of the day when drivers will be grouped according to track day experience, drivers will be able to go on track when they choose, subject to the number of cars on track. This type of day is very popular with the membership, as it allows for the potential of lots of track time and a relaxed day.
Following feedback from Club members, all of our Goodwood days will continue with just 25 cars booked on the day but in 2012 we will be running only three days at this circuit. The Castle Combe days will run with a maximum of just 35 cars. This has proved to be popular as it allows for more track time, despite the slightly higher cost per head. These days will be run to the traditional queuing system.
Only one of our days this year will be on a Saturday as, despite expressions of support they tend to be less well supported than weekdays. Of our Castle Combe dates, five will be run to the higher noise limit of 105dbA (normally 100dbA). This higher limit will also apply to all other venues on all dates shown - (see notes below the list of dates) with the exception of our Brands Hatch evening event which will be run at 102dbA.
We are able to send Track Day dates to those who request them, by e-mail. The 2012 dates have already been mailed to those on the mailing list. If you would like to receive any future updates by e-mail, just forward your e-mail address to trackdays@porscheclubgb.com,
