A synopsis

The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge with Michelin is open to competitors in both 997 GT3 Cup cars and 996 GT3 Cup cars. These are Factory built 'race-cars' and, with certain exceptions identified within the series regulations, must compete in standard form.

All cars will compete on Michelin slick tyres as used in the Carrera Cup GB.

A minimum weight is specified for each model type. The Class 1 - 997 models will weight a minimum of 1255Kg for the 2006/07 model cars and 1280Kg for teh 2008/09 model. In Class 2 the 996 models are all considered as being to the mechanical specification of 2004 model year - allowing for the latest aerodynamics, adjustable dampers, floating front brake discs, etc. car and ballast must be carried where specified and appropriate. These models will operate to a minimum weight of 1310Kg, with additional weight being carried if the car uses a multi-plate clutch or a sequential gear shift. The organisers review the performance of cars on a regular basis and minimum weights may be altered as a result.

Class structure

Class One
997 GT3 Cup cars. The Class One cars are identified by a 'GT1' legend on the windscreen.

Class Two
996 GT3 Cup Cars. The Class Two cars are identified by a 'GT2' legend on the windscreen.

Class Three (for 2010 only)
All vehicles that would have competed in Class 3 of the previous Porsche Open series plus cars eligible for the Porsche Club Championship. Class Three cars are identified by a 'GT3' legend on teh windscreen.

Awards
Trophies will be awarded to the first three finishers in each class at each round. For double-header rounds, awards will be presented to the first three in class for each race.

Awards at each meeting are usually presented at the Porsche Club Motorsport Race Centre as soon after the end of the race as situations allow
